SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM

If you want peace, prepare for war. I think this is a very good quote when it comes to the part of war section in the game. To be honest, war is my fave part of this game. And it's so hard to find good wars nowdays. Is it some kind of silent protest to the developer of the game? Or people are just..tired?

In my point of view, a war in Age of Legends is one of many ways to get friends. More friends, more guidance, more experience as a player so we can develop our hero the right way.And war can also help us finish a pvp tourneys like Dark Horse and Battle Royale. Wouldn't it be lovely to get VPs from tourney and get more friends at the same time? So to those new clans who often doubt to go to war, i would suggest you guys to start picking opponents and have fun in wars. Not experienced in wars are not a reason, because how else can we get experience in wars if we dont go having one ? ;)

Let's start with the basic things then, shall we?

To have a war, we will need clans that are willing to participate. Clan leaders or officers can accept a war , an then the 1 hour countdown begins. In one hour, we could get at least 15 stamina, except on faster stamina regen weeks. I personally would shop for weapons and companions 15 minutes before the war starts.

The battle page has a few things that's always constant on different devices. They are clans, attack ( on your opponent's name, next to them ), heal button ( different on every device ), refresh war, and capture ground.

There are some debate regarding what kind of members who should be in every wars. I would go with..members that are willing to participate and have fun ;) and members with knowledge of war itself. War is war, and war is always about sword and shield. This is where the fun begins. In my point of view, war is like a chess match. Every piece like every members got their function in the game. Even the knight that can move freely cant jump when cornered. So basically, there will be attacker and defender in wars. Better if we can have a player that can do both ;)

A war in Age of Legends is won by most ground captured. in order to do this, we need to know a few basic things. And they are :

  • War is won by most points gained. In this case, a war is won by most xp gained by a clan. Just like a regular pvp counting xp.
  • A battle won will give xp, and move the ground bar. A kill will get more xp, means more ground.
  • There is also ground capture ( only possible if every heroes in the opponents clan is dead ) that will get us a large amount of ground. We can capture ground once every 18-20 seconds, depending the connection and the device.
  • Surrender button is also available.
  • Have at least 1/3 members online before war. Just in case ur running out of stamina and be a sitting target.
  • Different strategies can be applied in war. Either gang up their strongest hero (if possible), or chose a player to battle constantly and many more.

And just like the battle feature in AoL, lower level heroes will get more xp if they can beat the higher lvl heroes, again..it means more ground in war. So develop your heroes correctly, gain massive income and let's have fun in war.

Different clans got their different set of rules in having a war. Make sure to have an arrangements first regarding time and rules before starting one. Or just read their war rules on their clanwall.

I think that's it for now..looking forward to see you heroes in the war field ;)

PS : there's a section in Clan section in the forum. many interesting writings there too. Dont forget to check them out ^^

The Income Formula

Another reason not to level up too fast is to let your income and vp catch up with your level. The higher the level, the better weapons and companions, needs a better income to maintain proper upkeep. Riches is like roots of power in this game :p

Here goes ..

( Level x 2 + 10) x (upkeep of the highest weapon + upkeep of the highest companion) + ( number of extra mercenaries x (upkeep of the highest weapon + upkeep of the highest companion))

Ouch..too many math, right? To make it easier, here is the example :

Hero Name : Lady Verne ; Level : 71
Highest Weapon Unlocked : Earthquaker (30 m upkeep) ; Highest Companion Unlocked : Marksman ( 16 m upkeep ); Number of Exta Mercenaries : 9

So the income should be :
(71 x 2 + 10) x (30.000.000 + 16.000.000) + (9 x (30.000.000 + 16.000.000))
= 152 x 46.000.000 + 414.000.000
= 7.406.000.000

The income formula is valid to be always armed and still got a bit of income daily. Or armed at weekend for tourneys and wars and goes to income mode daily. If you want to stay armed all the time and still got a proper income, just double the grand total or add 50% from the grand total then ^^

Personally, I chose to be armed on weekends only, since i couldn't afford to be fully equipped all the time x_x ... but that's me, and just like in real life, the game is always about choices. So happy gaming, heroes ^^

Not Levelling So Fast

I’ve been invited by my lovely friend Lady Verne to share my thought about this topic lol nonetheless to be honest let me be very clear about my writing. First of all that I do not in any way profess to be any kind of expert. This document is simply an attempt to share what I have learned and an effort to help others. The following are the best suggestions and information that I can share and should answer most of the common questions.

Secondly, I have tried to compile everything so that it might be of help to others. It is not nearly as well organized or as encompassing as I would like but doing so takes a lot of time that I simply dont have so bear with the less than ideal format and areas that are not covered.

Last but not least please bear in mind its all depends on what you want to achieve in the game but this is what has worked well for me and that I have found has also worked for others. Feel free to share the information with other players if you wish.

Regarding about this topic as to why not to levelling up so fast in my opinion by leveling slowly it allows you to build your income up. If you run a high up keep or level faster then your income you will have problems. INCOME is the KEY to the game.

Thus, the best way not to level up so fast is by doing lots of SPLATTING. In addition, it would be the best if INCOME MODE was done side along with your splatting so that way you just not only delevelling you even build your own income..its like shooting two birds with one stone isnt it :o

Now in the aspect of splatting it was done when players often repeatedly attack high level bounties, killing themselves and losing exp to slow down leveling, this is done to allow them to buy more land at early levels to gain more income. It shall be noted again with more income comes better weapons and  companions which in result can make oneself stronger. If you level to fast you may find yourself significantly weaker than other players at your same level.

The best way is to splatt should be on riders, you can splatt 100's of times on them, unlike people on your battle list. Another way, is to sell your gears (INCOME MODE) and splatt on people on your battle page. Splatting is the only way to get negative xp or having someone kill you so that you can dig more xp holes and reduce your chances on levelling up so fast.

Next, in the aspect of income i will combine with income mode also whereby these are the 2 most important things for income which are consists of followings:-

(a) Buy bases in groups of 10. Bases go up in price each time you buy. So you can buy 10 at the current price it    much cheaper then buying 1 at a time

(b) Keep your upkeep low like 33% of your gross income

It shall be noted that you buying structures to earn income. Make this a priority over buying weapons and companions. Remember that your structures will stop earning income after 24 hours. The 24 hours clock starts when you last collected your money. For this reason be certain to collect your income before the 24 hours are up. The more structures that you buy, the more income you will earn.

Take your time and build as much income as possible. The higher you go, the more you will need it. The upkeep on weapons and companions in this game can get insane. Being able to afford to buy them is easy; affording to keep them is another. Keep in mind that as you level up the structures get more and more expensive and have a decreasing rate of return for the money spent. For these reasons if you have any doubt that your income is not high enough, it is a sure sign that you dont have nearly enough. For the most part, you can have pretty good control over two things in this game. The first is how fast you level up and the second is your income. If you start at very low levels building income like mad, it will pay off in aces latter on. If you find yourself in a box where you have already moved up too fast without enough income, stop leveling, go into a strict defense mode and wait until you have more income than you need to move forward. Most people refer to this as CAMPING which i'm myself a camper too :o

Not to forget when you opt not to level up so fast please do or try income mode. It can be explained that income mode means in short is that you sell off most or all or your weapons and companions except those that have zero upkeep. This allows you to use 100% of your income to buy more structures. If you dont care about your stats or have really let your income get way too low, this may be an option for you. It certainly does allow you to build income faster than camping but also leaves you a very easy mark. If people know that you are in income mode some may be kind and go easy on you; some however will simply smile and take great pleasure in attacking an easy target as much and as hard as they are able. The latter is especially true if they find that they can easily kill you. If you choose to go into income mode as man people in the game do, be ready to have a huge target painted on your back and for your stats to drop.

Try to keep your upkeep as low as possible so you can build your income. In the long run, income is what drives this game. Your goal should be to maintain an upkeep of no more than 33% of your gross income and if possible, lower. Sometimes that is not possible if you care about your stats, but normally it is. Especially at the lower levels, you can easily have a very low upkeep. Pay close attention to what other players are using for weapons and companions and what they are doing. It will help you not only protect yourself but fine tune your own strategy.

In a nutshell, you guys can opt to whether to level up so fast or take your time to build your character as in this game INCOME is the KEY through out this game. If you can survive in this tactic you can do well in this game. Good luck and happy gaming.

Note from Lady Verne : Thanks for the kind insight, uilquorra ^_^ and like you told me most of the time, experience is the best teacher. Readers dear..this guy surely knows about what he wrote, so i suggest we add this article to our consideration in playing the game. Bless you and your heart, uilquorra ^^

The Art of War

Sun Tzu, a famous high ranking military general, strategist and tactitian said that war is like fire. People who do not lay down their arms, will die by their arms. The war should be fought swiftly to avoid economic losses. Sun Tzu emphasized the importance of positioning in military strategy.

The art of war is an ancient Chinese military treatise attributed to SunTzu, divided into 13 chapters. I know this might get boring in the first place, but keep on reading. it will get better soon when we can correlate The Art of War with Clan War in Age of Legends ^^

The 13 Chapters of The Art of War are :

Laying Plans / The Calculations explores the fundamental factors. In Sun Tzu's Art of War, there are 5 fundamental factors such as way, seasons, terrain, leadership and management that will determine the outcome of a war. Just like in Age of Legends, there are many factors that will determine the result of a war. To me, mostly knowledge of our own strength and weakness as a team and individually so we can compose the perfect strategy, management, and leadership. 5 soldiers with a good head can win against 10 soldiers without one.

Waging War / The Challenge explains how to understand the economy of warfare and how success requires winning decisive engagements quickly. The success of military campaigns require limiting the cost of competition and conflicts.
That is why, we need to build our income starts from early level. A high income can maintain a high upkeep, which means better companions and better weapons. Stash your Valor Points from tournaments and quest or boss hunt until there's a sale. Spent those Valor Points wisely.

Attack by Stratagem/The Plan of Attack defines the source of strength. Unity, not size, and discuss all the factors that needed to suceed in a war. Those are Attack, Strategy, Alliances, Army and Cities.
In Age of Legends, size does matter. In numbers there is strength. Strategy and upkeep also held an important part of winning a war, not to mention other personal stats like HP, Stamina and the total attack and defense from the guild. It all supports one and another.

Tactical Dispositions / Positioning explain the importance of defending existing positions until a commander is capable of advancing from those positions in safety. Recognize the strategic opportunities, and not to create opportunities to the enemy.
In Clan War, knowledge about the war and strategy is very important. Never give a chance for the opponents to gain points form your death for example. Heal even before you're injured. If you kept getting injured or die to often, better stay dead because your enemy will harvest points from our death. Or do not rush at the beginning of war, or waste stamina in hitting a tanker..things like that and many more. I will separate this part in the war strategy later on this blog.

Energy/Directing explains the use of creativity and timing in building an army's momentum. Like how to maintain Upkeep and Income, how to equip wisely in daily base so we can fully armed at clan war, how to attack, how to break chain of attacks in war..things like that.

Weak Points & Strong/Illusion and Reality explains how an army's opportunities come from the openings in the environment caused by the relative weakness of the enemy in a given area. To be able to recognize the strength and weakness in a clan is going to raise the percentage of winning. Who's the hitter? Who's the tanker who will hold their ground no matter what? Who's the weakest link and how to cover that? Who has the most stamina? The biggest damage? The most defensive player? Because in war, it's always about sword and shield ;)

Maneuvering/Engaging The Force explains the dangers of direct conflict and how to win those confrontations when they are forced upon the commander.  Usualy, a hero with the biggest damage and highest stamina got the tendency to attack simultaneously to the opponents hitter and the rest of the opponents team. I did not say that this is wrong. Focus on the stamina. Just hit the strongest and leave the lesser opponents to the rest of the team. It's clan war, right? Not a man to man battle. Trust your team, trust your leader. If the hero is not strong, NEVER ATTACK OPPONENT'S STRONGEST MEMBER that will cause you to splat. It will definately give them points. Every clan member are important. Use your stamina wisely by picking the right opponents and STAY ALIVE or know when to stay dead.

Variation in Tactics/The Nine Variations focuses on the need for flexibility in an army's responses. It explains how to respond to shifting circumstances successfully.

The Army on the March/Moving The Force describes the different situations in which an army finds itself as it moves through new enemy territories, and how to respond to these situations. Much of this section focuses on evaluating the intentions of others.

Terrain/Situational Positioning looks at the three general areas of resistance (distance, dangers and barriers) and the six types of ground positions that arise from them. Each of these six field positions offer certain advantages and disadvantages.

The Nine Situations/Nine Terrains describes the nine common situations (or stages) in a campaign, from scattering to deadly, and the specific focus that a commander will need in order to successfully navigate them.

The Attack by Fire/Fiery Attack explains the general use of weapons and the specific use of the environment as a weapon. This section examines the five targets for attack, the five types of environmental attack and the appropriate responses to such attacks.

The Use of Spies/The Use of Intelligence focuses on the importance of developing good information sources, and specifies the five types of intelligence sources and how to best manage each of them.

I copied most of it from id.wikipedia.org. Because i think this is important. Every clan member should have a knowledge about clan war and war itself , so every clan member can give the best to win their clan. And like a friend always told me, experience is the best teacher, so..happy warring, heroes ^^

The Land and Structure Guide

Lands and Structures are essential in Age of Legends. It provide cash for the player to buy weapons and companions. it is suggested to collect income every 24 hour. The upkeep must stay below the income, so players don't have a negative cash flow. The price of this items rise after every purchase, so i suggest you buy 10 at a time to get maximum result. if a 24 hour income can't buy 10 lands and structures at the same time, i suggest you stash it. It's better to pay the 10% bank fee, than being poached by savages who hunt green dots on purpose.

The Lands, and their base price

Rocky Coast - Income $500 - Base Cost : $ 50.000
Fertile Valley - Income $3.000 - Base Cost : $ 500.000
Rustic Forrest - Income $20.000 - Base Cost : $ 10.000.000

Being on Income Mode ( defense mode, actually ) is not only about gaining money. True, if we sell all our weapon and companion, we'll get more money, but i think we will get bored easily..i know i will :p. A friendly tip is to go to income mode with weapons and companions as effective as it can be, so we can still enjoy the game by hunting bounties, battle and facing an invasion.

Ever seen a low level Heroes ( below level 20 ) or medium level Heroes ( below level 40 ) that have an amazing bounty cost ? Usually they developed their income from the early level. Those heroes tries not to level up so fast, so their income can be strongly build. Hunt bounties in lower level are easy, since most of them are cheap, and don't need weapons of high maintenance. Every time their level is almost up, they splat to stronger heroes. These kind of heroes usually developed to be a strong one, sometimes stronger than those with 30 level gap.

I personally leveled up too fast, so I have to start to build my income on this level, and it's kinda hard. The hardest part is to surpress my ego to level up fast and participate in wars.  Because at my level now, the weapons are expensive, the opponents are stronger, but i won't back down. Some says it's better to level up fast, open many quest to gain massive VP and so on, and some says better to camp at a certain level and build a very strong income by hunting bounties and splat when almost level up. But for me, it's a matter of taste, and a matter of what type of player the person is.

We can not go back to create a new beginning ( except to reset a character )
But we can always make a new ending
because a lot like in life, a game is always about choices.

Happy gaming, everyone ^^
